First, let me get a couple announcements out of the way:
1. We have re-opened after the brief close, and are back to normal business hours. (11-5 every day but Tuesday)
2. All gift cards and/or donations you may have received will absolutely still be honored.
3. The Stay & Play 20% discount is still a thing. So are our Frequent Fuser and Gold Glass Club programs.
Now that that is out of the way, if you don’t know me yet my name is Maddy, and I am the lucky new owner of I Made It! Glass Creations! I first stumbled across I Made It! when a job posting was sent to me while finishing my BA in Business Management and a Studio Art minor at Dominican University of California. I applied shortly after graduating and soon felt like the luckiest college grad ever. My first post-grad job was in the art field, within walking distance of home, and the people I worked with were/are AMAZING. Unreal.
I was soon falling in love with glass as a medium, and my family was (and still is) receiving the consequence…any and all presents were to be made of glass. I was also immersing myself in the art with Pinterest searches galore, experimenting with studio examples, scouring Facebook groups for tips from the seasoned artists, and taking classes in Vegas at the annual expo. For my new found love, I have Lynn to thank. At the center of all of my self-discovery was a woman who took her own passion and created a community. She encouraged my curiosity and footed the bill for those trips to Vegas too.
I went from not quite understanding what fused glass was to managing the studio and getting to teach customers new techniques and give them tips to achieve their vision. The pictures above are a selected chronology of where I started and where I am now with the medium. That first picture was made on my fourth day on the job; I had to ask if I could overlap , too. The last set of coasters were a parting gift to Lynn; my way of thanking her for helping me grow in the business of art. Now I have the opportunity to take it to the next level and make the studio my own wonderland. My vision for the future includes growing in community, supporting and inspiring artists, and continuing to learn and be inspired. To those who have already showered me with support, you are the reason I couldn’t let this opportunity pass. I can’t wait to see how the future unfolds, and hope you’ll join me for the journey.
See you soon!
Maddy
